A monument was built under the project of arch. Elijah Trajan, Head u.p.e.p. Major Bernatskiy, Firsov zam.polit Gen.
The building has lasted from 15. XI. 1944. to 5. I. 1945.
On the monument has the following inscription:
"Krasnoarmeytsam, and officers serzhantam III Ukrainskogo front pogibshim in borybe with fashizmom for svobodu Родины narodov and liberation!"
"Thank русским богатырям - descendant geroev Плевны and Brian!
"Vechnaya pamyaty warrior Krasnoj Army - Military защиты between peace and дружбы narodami всех country!"
History
On the eighth in September 1944 Soviet forces crossed the border and stepped on the Bulgarian territory. This transition occurred without a single shot. The population welcomed the Soviet troops with flowers, bread and salt.
On the eve of crossing the Bulgarian border, the commander of the Third Ukrainian Front, Marshal F. I. Tolbuhin turned to the Bulgarian people with the words:
The Red Army has no intention of fighting with the Bulgarian people and its army as the Red Army was considered the Bulgarian people for the brotherly people.
Red Army has one mission-to break the Germans and to accelerate the coming of universal peace. "
Bulgarian army resisted the Soviet troops.
Lithuanian troops Third Front made a forced march through the Bulgarian territory and focused on the Bulgarian-Yugoslav border in the region of Vidin, but south of the Bulgarian border with Yugoslavia and Greece were deployed First, Second and Fourth Bulgarian army, they were under the command Lithuanian Third Front.
At the end of September, Bulgaria was completely cleansed from Germanic armies.
